AI subscriptions for PhD
Currently I'm subscribing to the following AI tools to help me with my learning in PhD as well as completing my task deliverables. I want to leave this as a record here and later come back and do an evaluation of which works best.
- grammarly - for correcting english grammar writing, checking for AI generation of text.
- grok - supergrok subscription from XAI for learning economics and other subject concepts, proofread my documents, conduct logical fallacy tests etc.
- claude - subscription, same for proofreading, learning concepts in subjects I havent had training on, using for coding of R and python for creating data visualisations etc.
- cursor; codex, claude code, github co-pilot, to be used with visual studio for desktop file management, organizing the files and folders and keeping track of all drafts and various version of the drafts.
I take most subscriptions on a monthly basis and mix and match them over the months to minimize my cost spend and use the best performing model at a certain time. Few months ago, Claude was doing great, now Grok is doing great, so just keeping my options open.
Aim is to reduce dependency and cost while increasing productivity.
