Can't seem to escape Racism
Have been in Australia for about a year now, its been difficult to even have a conversation with a local here, University admin and faculty notwithstanding. Forget about dating, its so intimidating to use the swiping apps as one feels like they might be perceived as a predator. Even having spent four years in Singapore and two in Malaysia, where race is overtly categorized in all walks of life and its just input in all calculation of housing and dating, leaves a bad taste. Everyone speaks with that comparison in mind. Had sailed on Danish and UK flagged ships, where old school Danes used to have superiority complex, though those behaviours have changed over the last 15 years. Even in India, to be dark skinned fellow its impossible to find dates as an adult in any of the big cities as that is perceived somehow as less capable. Have moved last three and half decades not paying heed and just focusing on my capabilities and the confidence of youth. But its beginning to frustrate. Further, there seem to be regime change powers that are using such divisions in social media to further fracture society in the efforts to seize power in places. Most childhood fables used to have tangible villains over whom Heroes would win. But in adulthood and in the real world the villains are concepts, or hidden from plain view. So to be a Hero its less about the fight of good against evil, its more like to stay resilient in the mind and push forward despite perceptions.
