It took me four days to relapse into using social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and X, primarily to cope with feelings of depression. Fortunately, I kept the duration limiters on my iPhone, restricting each app to 30 minutes. After using them, I felt slightly better.
However, over the past three days, my productivity in research work was exceptional while avoiding social media, averaging about 10 hours per day. Today, it will likely be just a few hours. I plan to go cold turkey again and aim to surpass my previous three-day streak.
This experience highlights the need for an alternative leisure activity to keep my mind occupied and distract me from life's challenges, as social media isn't a sustainable option. I tried using eBook reader apps, but they feel clunky and cumbersome.
